Are Corona Tools Good? (Company Information and Product Guide)

Are Corona Tools good and worth purchasing, well that depends on if you’re looking at price or quality. Although there are many different brands of hand garden tools that can be bought just about anywhere for a very low price, these tools are made to work. From trimming bushes, to cutting tree limbs, it seems Corona Tools fulfills their promise of providing a well-established array of cutting tools. In this article, we will dive deeper into this company and the different tools they offer.

As you may be wondering, I am not a sponsor of Corona Tools, but my expectations have been met quite nicely from their performance tools. If this article at interest you, read on.

Who Are Corona Tools, and Where are They Located?

Imagine if you will America just after the turn of the last century, specifically California. Back then, the Golden State was just starting to grow, and, with all the new people, came a newfound love for a fruit that folks found in abundance; oranges.

Corona, California, was the center of the citrus industry back then. Indeed, it was where the entire industry began. Orange and other citrus trees love the weather in Corona, and the fruit they grow there is as good today as it was in the 1920s.

The industry was growing quickly as more and more folks fell in love with California’s sweet, tasty fruit. The only issue? Shipping their delicious oranges around the United States proved very difficult for California farmers, and they were losing a fortune.

They are located at: 22440 Temescal Canyon Rd Corona, CA 92883

Hand-Picked Oranges weren’t Making it to Market

The problem was that thousands of pounds of oranges weren’t making it to market before they began rotting and molding. Ironically, damage to the peel of the orange from hand-picking was the problem.

In turn, when pulled forcefully off an orange tree, the ‘button’ of an orange can be damaged, ripped open, and even removed entirely. This allows bacteria to get inside the orange and causes mold to form, especially when oranges are shipped long distances. (New York City and other cities and towns across America wanted their oranges, too.) Plus, even if the orange button was left intact, the short pieces of stem left on the orange could poke holes in other oranges, causing the same predicament.

A solution was needed and fast. That’s when a humble school teacher came up with the idea that revolutionized the orange industry; a clipping tool that made picking oranges easier and left the orange peel intact and protected.

The Birth of an American Company

After a short development phase, the 9B Orange Clipper (today known as the AG 5050 orange clipper) was invented. The humble blacksmith who refined the clipper was one of three men who started the company. Once production was up and running, their new firm, Corona Clipper Company, was born and supplied their clippers to the booming citrus industry in California.

What Tools Does Corona Tools Offer?

In the last 90+ years, Corona Clipper Company changed its name and became Corona Tools. More than that, however, they developed an entire line of tools for the agricultural industry and, afterward, for the public at large.

Indeed, Corona Tools has been at the forefront of hand tool technology for decades, introducing many revolutionary ideas and products that changed agriculture in America forever.

Today, planned obsolescence is a curse that has befallen all Americans. The fact is, most companies don’t manufacture things the way they used to (or even close).

At Corona Tools, their slogan is Season after Season, and by all means, they mean what they say. Many of the gardening and agricultural tools they manufacture come with a lifetime guarantee.

Those that don’t come with a 10-year guarantee. Here’s the difference:

Corona Tools’ MAX line of tools is guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the entire life of the tool. If one of their MAX tools is found to be defective, the company will replace it free of charge.

Corona’s RED line of tools comes with a shorter but still solid guarantee as well. They guarantee their RED tools to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for 10 years from the date of purchase. If something is found to be defective, the company will also replace it free of charge within the 10 year period.

Even more impressive is that the warranty on each tool is displayed on the packaging tattoo comes in. Also, if you’ve tossed the packaging away (as most people do), Corona Tools’ catalog lists the warranty for every single tool they manufacture.
